I am a medical doctor and epidemiologist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice, research, and teaching across the United Kingdom and Africa. I obtained my PhD in Population Health from the University of Edinburgh in 2015. Following this, I led the Global Health Epidemiology Research Group (GHERG) in Nigeria, where my work focused on understanding and addressing the burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Africa.
In 2018, I developed the National NCDs Data Profile for Nigeria, a project commissioned by the World Health Organization in collaboration with the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health. I am a recipient of several prestigious awards, including the US Carnegie Fellowship, the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) award for African researchers, and the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) Leadership Institute Award.
I have served as an external PhD examiner for universities across Africa, Australia, China, and the United Kingdom. I have authored over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals and currently serve as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Global Health Economics and Policy. I am actively engaged in global health research within the School of Health and Life Sciences at Teesside University, UK.
